A machine, this isn't me. Cold, controlling and cruel. It should help, but it's an iron lung. It locks you up and keeps you alive. You are disgusting. A burden I can't bear I have nothing else to give To someone who kept me in chains. Everything I have been is lost. In nothing, in the darkness of youth. Pulled apart, your bone structure shows. It's nothing but dust. Tell me I need to thank you again. Tell me I need you. I don't, and I never fucking will. I loved you when you gave me something. Now you're just a shadow looming over me.

Holding your hands over your ears. Moving them to your eyes. Your mouth is closed. You’ve plugged your nose. And these precious moments. Are all things you may never hold again. Shut them in. At the end of this life you can’t return. You drove a stake through your heart to fix yourself in this moment. You just ran further from it. Blindfolded to see even less. I’m nothing but a shadow. I'm nothing to you. Frail irrelevance. It’s becoming my friend, because I have nothing left. Still unwanted. Still unwanting. Still left alone. I still need you. You told me you didn’t want to be. Your pain brought upon us. Shouldered by your weak body. Broken, never to be repaired.

about

This is the first album we've written as Quivers.

The main lyrical theme of the album is medication, or more specifically the act of not taking your prescribed medication anymore because it makes you feel like shit. It feels like stepping into a new world. And this new world isn't that good either. In this world, you're suddenly growing up, falling in love and coming to terms with the fact that you're never going to be the person people knew you as when you took your meds.
